Astrology Forecast for February 2012

There are a number energies coming at us this month from the cosmos, and I will start off this report with the Full Moon in Leo on February 7th.

If you don’t know, for thousands of years if not all of human existence, we have looked at the Moon and revered her as something important. Of course the best time to notice her is when she is Full. Slowly but surely humans thought there was something special about the Moon, and when able, wrote down their thoughts and feelings. As an astrologer, I would agree, and so does science since we all know the Moon controls much more then the tides of the oceans.

The Full Moon reflects the most amount of light when she is full--and we should do the same. During a Full Moon we should sit back and reflect on the things that have been going on in our lives over the last few weeks and see where we are. We should reflect on what is important to us and what may have been a waste of time. With the Full Moon in the section of the solar system ruled by Leo, we are also asked to examine our need for attention. Where have we over reacted, been too emotional about something, or not been able to ask for what we needed?

Full Moons are always about coming to a completion or realization. so we can move forward in our lives with less baggage and more information about ourselves. This makes life easier, especially when we worry less about things that should not matter.

For the next 3 months, the planet Mars is in a retrograde motion from our perspective here on the planet. Saturn will be joining Mars in his backward motion on February 7th. Energetically, the retrograde motion of a planet is about going within and reevaluating certain things in life (the specifics will depend on where this falls in your personal birth chart). Generally speaking, Mars retrograde in Virgo is passive aggressive behavior. Everyone has it from time to time. Now everyone will feel it at the same time. We feel as if something is going on behind our backs, but there is nothing we can do about it. It's a gnawing feeling, but it does not mean we all will feel paranoid. We will just feel as if something is going on. And it is. We have all different kinds of elections going on this year. If that isn’t prime territory for keeping secrets and telling the public what they think we want to hear instead of the truth, I don’t know our country.

We also have health issues coming to the forefront, since all of us in some way will be influenced by Mars in Virgo retrograde. Now I am not saying the whole world will be sick in February but it is flu season in the winter regions of the world, so we can expect this flu season to be extra bad. If you are one of the lucky ones that do not get sick, then you will be focused on staying healthy. No matter which side of the fence you fall on, you and your family’s personal health care will be a major factor since Virgo rules our everyday health.

Saturn is in the sign of Libra and goes retrograde on February 7th. This retrograde phase happens during the political primary season similar to Mars. We will be looking for fair and balanced foundations within our government and politicians. Who really has the experience to run this country will be a question on everyone's mind. We should check in with ourselves from time to time to see who feels like the more balanced candidate. It will not be easy to decide who to vote for in the primary elections.

If politics does not interest you, I ask you to look at your own life and the choices you are making or have made over the last few months. These planetary positions want us to re-group for a few months, find balance, and look at who is in our lives. The reason I add who is in our lives is thanks to Venus being part of this Full Moon, with Mars and Saturn retrograde scenario as well.

Questions to ponder: Is this person or persons good for us? Do they enhance who we are so we can better ourselves and those around us? Are we constantly making adjustments for this person just to find out that is not what they wanted? To be very specific about Venus’s involvement in this story, I would also ask: Are you regularly second guessing what your partner wants? Many people do this and the aspects of early February will show us that we cannot second guess anything when it comes to our partners or our love relationships. Do not second guess anything over the next few months. Focus on being open and honest with yourself and others. You will be glad if you can do this.

The transit of Venus into Aries this month also confirms our need to be open and honest within our love relationships. Aries speaks to the fact that we must say what we need and what we want from our partners.

The Aquarius energy that the Sun represents for most of February is about being innovative and creative, thinking outside the box, being unique and not following the normal path. Take a clue from the Aquarius Sun and break out of your old habits this winter and do something different. We certainly have plenty of planets telling us to go within and see what is not working, so use the Sun’s energy to step out and dare to be different. Do something out of the ordinary.

When the Sun enters Pisces on February 19th (east coast) and within a few hours conjuncts Neptune, fantasy plays a big role for a couple days. Pay attention well during this time as many people will be deceived.

We can use this transit for good by being creative or finding some kind of musical escape. Feeling is the name of the game when it comes to Pisces. Make sure to do what you can to stay around positive people and positive environments as we can pick up negative energy as easily as positive during a transit like this.

Another way to use the Sun in Pisces during the rest of February, because we have Mercury in Pisces too, is through creative writing or writing poetry or music. If you are not a writer, then at the very least relax with some good music.

Lastly, we have a difficult transit between Venus and Mars which means we need to pay close attention that we do not end up doing other people’s work for them. Again, as in the very beginning of this report, the Venus aspect here is the same but with a different planet. As long as we do not try and second guess what someone else needs, we will be fine. If we get caught in that trap, we'll feel frustrated and unworthy--which is never true. This transit is here to teach us to value our own opinion and ideals more often which brings more joy into our lives.

How to be a Creative Genius: Traits of the Greats

So you want to be a creative genius…

If you really want to become a creative genius, my first advice for you is: surround yourself with creative geniuses for a few years. Work with them, play with them and take great notes. If you’re short on time and Spielberg refuses to return your calls, take my second advice: Read this column.

During the last 20 years, I’ve had the good fortune to work closely with dozens of brilliant and successful creative people. They are artists, teachers, writers, inventors, performers, filmmakers, rollercoaster designers, astronauts and even Disney Imagineers. Among them are a number of people who are destined for greatness.

I’ve also studied the lives and works of many early creative geniuses; pioneers of the arts, science, exploration and business. I can’t read enough about people like Edison, Da Vinci, Hawking, Jobs and Mozart. Beyond reading about them, I love to read their writings. I try to steal a glimpse of their processes and their thinking.

In studying these innovators, in person and on the page, I’m constantly looking for the traits, attitudes and actions that set them apart from their contemporaries. What makes them such brilliant creators and productive people? What is the secret to their success?

I am a prospector panning for creative gold. This is no fool’s gold; this is genius gold…creative currency. I’m far from done with my quest, but here’s a glimpse at some of the nuggets I’ve uncovered so far.

Keep in mind that this is a living list that will evolve as I continue to read, listen and learn. Call it a starter set. I call it the Traits of the Great Creatives.

Read on and see how many you share.

Optimism – They believe most things are possible

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.” -- Frank Lloyd Wright

Every great creative mind I’ve ever encountered has been optimistic. I don’t mean that they were starry eyed and Pollyanna. They all approach their challenges believing that a brilliant solution can and will be found; a breakthrough discovery will be made.

This optimism includes confidence in their own abilities. Joe Rohde, the Imagineer responsible for designing Disney’s Animal Kingdom once told me that optimism was a key ingredient of the creative ego. “We first have to believe that it can be done. Then we have to believe that we are the ones who have the power to do it. If we don’t believe those two things, the battle is lost before we start.”

Persistence – They never give up

Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields to strong resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind. – Leonardo Da Vinci

Throughout history, great creatives have shown that persistence is a personality trait that can move mountains. Two good examples revolve around light and flight.

Thomas Edison spent 52 years perfecting the incandescent light bulb. In the process he extended the life of the average light bulb from 40 hours to 1500 hours. That progress took persistence and stamina. If he had given up after 50 years, you might be reading this magazine by candle light.

Da Vinci executed the designs on dozens of flying machines because he desperately wanted to fly. As each design failed to get off the ground, he’d immediately begin work on the next concept. He continued to pursue flight until his death in 1519. Although he never achieved flight during his lifetime, Da Vinci’s ideas have contributed to the development of several working flying machines including the modern helicopter.

Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won't work. - Thomas A. Edison

To the greats, failure is not a road block, but a simple fact of life. It’s an ingredient rather than an impediment and powerful teacher to boot. It’s a stepping stone to success.

Creative geniuses seem almost universal in their embrace of failure. As Tom Peter’s puts it “If you’re not failing, you’re not trying hard enough. Failure is never a problem as long as you are failing forward”

Imagination: They see all of the possibilities

Teacher: What are you drawing Amy
Amy (age 5): God
Teacher: But Amy, nobody knows what God looks like.
Amy: They will when I’m done.

Imagination is the talent that allows us to see our ideas before they are realized. It’s an ever changing set of mental blue prints and emerging concepts. For the creative genius, the imagination is a mental gymnasium where they can work out their ideas.

Einstein bolstered many people’s perception of the value of imagination when he said “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” He knew that the human imagination holds infinite possibilities.

So many of the great minds I’ve worked with and so many famous creators throughout history refer to the power of the imagination with great reverence and respect. And no imagination gets more respect than that of a child.

I’ve heard so many gifted people refer to the minds of kids with a sense of awe and wonder. It’s a level of creative openness and receptivity that they aspire toward.

Disney Imagineers have applied the Japanese principle of “Hoshin” or “beginner’s mind” to many of their brainstorming sessions. Some creative geniuses, like Picasso, considered the child’s imagination to be an absolute benchmark of creativity.

If there’s a diamond among these nuggets of wisdom, it’s imagination. It’s an essential and magical tool shared by the greats.

Passion: They love what they do

"Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius." --Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

There is no creative genius without passion. It’s a driving force and the buoy that keeps creators afloat through failure and adversity. It’s what keeps them awake at night.

Annie Leibovitz talks of loving the people she photographs, Einstein spoke of his love of mankind and Shakespeare wrote sonnets to express his passions.

Passion is both a driver for the creator and an irresistible force which attracts people to follow and support their creative efforts. It’s an essential trait of the greats and it is also one of the sources of their often abundant supplies of energy.

Energy – They keep going and going and going...

Another trait that seems to connect the vast majority of successful creative people is high energy. It’s rare to find a lethargic creative genius. I’ve yet to meet one. This may explain some of the extraordinary productivity that so often accompanies creative genius.

I once commented on the endless physical energy of Jonathan Bailey, a brilliant young architect whose structures are changing the face of the planet. He laughed and explained. “My mind is always going a thousand miles an hour. My body feels a need to try to keep up.” He’s not alone.

Thomas Edison was renowned for his energy often working 18 hours a day, surviving on cat naps and 4-5 hours of sleep per night.

An over-the-top example of pure creative energy is the frenetic force of Robin Williams. Thankfully not all great creative thinkers bounce off the walls like Williams, but Robin’s energy is a reflection of his mind – in speed, versatility and endurance. It’s an enviable gift.

Curiosity and Learning: They want to know more

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." -- Walt Disney
The brightest minds I have ever known have also been the most curious minds I have ever known. Creative minds are often insatiable, hungrily consuming information related to their passions.

I have never met a creative genius who was not actively in the process of learning something new. The greats are life long learners. At the height of his success as a sculptor and a painter Michelangelo told his patrons “I am still learning.” It’s both humbling and inspirational in the same breath.

Many of the greats were voracious readers amassing impressive libraries throughout their lives. One notable example is Harry Houdini who assembled the largest single collection of books and publications about the occult and the paranormal…in the world

Curiosity may have killed its fair share of cats, but it has also contributed to the legends of some truly great thinkers.

Focus: They choose a target and get lost in their work

While I was working on a project for Kennedy Space Center, Story Musgrave, a 30-year NASA veteran and astronaut on six Space Shuttle flights, told me that a rocket was really nothing more than a controlled explosion. He said the difference between a rocket and a bomb is that the rocket focuses its explosion in one direction.

I know several creative people who have learned to harness the explosive power of their minds in a similar way. They have an ability to aim all of their high powered brain cells toward a specific challenge at a specific time and the result is “Lift Off!”

When we think of creativity, we tend to think of free flowing ideas, originality and divergent thinking. We don’t typically think of focus. Yet focus is clearly a cornerstone of creative genius.

Many of the greatest minds I’ve encountered have the ability to control their focus like a mental zoom lens, making the shift from big picture to infinitesimal detail with ease. This mental versatility is one element that separates the brilliant creative from the average professional.

Einstein was so fixated on managing the focus of his mind that he filled his wardrobe with dozens of identical sets of clothing. He did not want to waste his considerable brain power deciding what clothes to wear each day.

We don’t all need to be as obsessive as Einstein, but it’s clear that without strong focus, creative genius has the potential to become just another flash in the pan.

Courage: They reach beyond the boundaries of comfort and fear

“I'm not funny. What I am is brave” – Lucille Ball

Great creatives are courageous spirits. They put their reputations and their successes on the line every day in pursuit of the next great idea. They are known for breaking the rules, ignoring conventional wisdom and forging into uncharted territory. That takes some moxie.

The path to creative genius is paved with insecurities, misunderstanding, rejection, ridicule and in some cases outright hostility. Consider the fate of Galileo who was deemed a heretic long before history reclassified him as a scientific genius.

Most of us are only risking our careers and reputations when we leap out of the box. People like Galileo were risking their lives. The basic rule stands true in creativity as it does in the real world: No guts, no glory.

Communication: They can teach others the value of their ideas

I remember struggling to communicate an idea to my Dad when I was ten and failing miserably. He told me then, “It doesn’t matter how great your ideas are if you can’t effectively communicate their value to the people who will benefit or the people who can help.” Dad’s not creative genius, but he introduced me to one of the more valuable tools of the trade: communication..

Da Vinci’s hundreds of schematic drawings are legendary because they so effectively communicate both the value (why) and the mechanics (how) of his ideas. There are enthusiasts today who entertain themselves by building Leonardo’s machines using his original drawings as blue prints. Thus Da Vinci’s compulsion for communication has helped to make his innovative ideas even more timeless.

If you want to see a more contemporary example of brilliance when communicating an innovative idea – catch Steven Jobs on stage at the next Apple product launch. He uses the full power of his mystique, his environment and his technology to show people how Apple’s latest innovations will change the world.

Finally, let’s not forget how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led a peaceful revolution fueled only by his vision and his magnificent ability to communicate his ideas.

From hand written notes, to moving speeches to multimedia extravaganzas, it’s clear that the ability to effectively communicate new ideas is an essential ingredient of creative genius.

Bias for Action: They don’t just think, they do.

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." – Walt Disney

Most of the great people throughout history have been people of action. Great creatives are no different. In fact, all acts of creation require action. This is another reason that creative geniuses tend to be very prolific during their lifetimes. Most share a compulsion to create.

Picasso didn’t just sit in the Paris cafés thinking about painting, he painted; sometimes all day and night. “Sometimes I don’t want to paint”, Picasso would tell his friends “Sometimes I must to paint”

Steven Jobs and Paul Allen physically built the first Apple computer in that legendary garage because having the great idea wasn’t enough. They had to do something with it.

Action is not an option for the creative genius. It’s a vital part of the formula.

Vision without action is only a dream
Action without vision is just passing time
But Vision with Action can change the world
-- Joel Arthur Barker

I hope my research has helped to make your path to creative genius just a little clearer. There is no one formula for creative genius, but these ten traits represent some of the most important ingredients. Keep stretching, keep searching, and until next time, stay inspired!.

Resistance Can Be Your North Star

Note: This article is one in series of seven tips from Inspired Entrepreneur Nick Williams

Tip #5 Resistance can actually be a pointer, and a North Star.

"Whichever way the wind of resistance is coming from, that’s the way to head – directly into the resistance. And the closer you get to achieving the breakthrough your genius has in mind, the stronger the wind will blow and the harder the resistance will fight to stop you.” -Seth Godin in Linchpin

If you didn’t care, if there wasn’t love, passion, inspiration and devotion, there would simply be indifference.

The fact that you resist means there is something to resist. And it is that precious impulse that we talked about at the beginning.

Your ego will tell you that it is protecting you from career and social suicide, looking stupid, failing, going broke or mad, but actually it is lying to you so that you will stay in fear and not show up fully in your life. It wants you to remain ruled by fear rather than be liberated to your full potential.

Recognise that resistance is repressed energy. It is the level of fear and blockedness you have.

The amount of your resistance directly correlates to the amount of creative energy and talent you will have, as you unblock yourself. Or as some people express it, “The bigger your purpose, the bigger your problems.”

Freedom project: Keep a list of the things that you get most scared about, what you keep talking yourself out of and the wonderful ideas you have that won’t go away. You have your North Star.

Past Life Regression - Should You Do It?

There are many advantages in mentally traveling back in time and seeing that you have lived before.

There are people who have had severe problems in their lives that they can not trace back to a past event. After years of counseling, their underlying problems still exists and persists. The answer might be to track down the existing problem back to its most basic source. This is where hypnosis comes in.

The subconscious is a vast storehouse of knowledge that holds everything that has happened to us, every emotion we’ve experienced, every situation we’ve encountered, and every detail that has flashed before us. When you are able to tap into the knowledge from the subconscious mind, the results can be enormously beneficial. Past life regression therapy—a form of deep hypnosis that takes the client back to another place and time offers an insightful way to go back into the past, observe it and change any unwanted behavior. It could clear up the lifelong question: Why do bad things happen to good people? Karma, is after all, the great equalizer.

Another advantage of knowing who you were is a past life is that it is just plain exciting. What could be more exciting than to know when you die it’s not the end of your existence? Another motivation in seeking a hypnotherapist and a past life regression induction is plain old curiosity. Who on earth could you probably have been? Were you experiencing déjà vu or were you actually physically there at some point in your existence.

It has been proven that going back in time to a former life can relieve or heal physical and emotional hurts in the present. Past life regression is an excellent opportunity to change old patterns and find new ways of being. It has been shown that the return to a previous life may relieve or cure physical and emotional wounds in the present. Healing may result from the release of blocked emotions. Wonderful benefits are available in the exploration of past lives. The experience of knowing that you have lived before is an opportunity to examine your current life in a new light and see the experiences of life in a different perspective. This insight makes it easier to forgive. The client can now experience life while being more objective and impartial. When the perception of a traumatic past life or past death is revealed and expiated its impact on contemporary life is reduced. It is as if the person has rid themselves of the bad energies and bad karma.

From phobias a person has to endure to a mysterious talent a child possesses—past life regression clears up these inexplicable questions.

The past life experience also reinforces the belief that death is not the end of life, therefore bringing peace and comfort to the person in this life.

A past life hypnosis experience could shed light on a current relationship. Check out the story of a couple in California that found out they knew each other in the 1930’s.

How Many People Does It Take for Planetary Awakening?

The Avatar Amma Bhagavan founder of the Oneness University in India holds the planetary focus for spiritual planetary awakening. Amma Bhagavan as an Avatar of Awakening aids humanity into its next phase of evolution.

How can you choose to be a part of this awakening? You can receive regular Oneness Blessings from blessing givers in your community. This is one method.

The Oneness Blessing initiates a shift in your brain which reduces activity in the right parietal area. It also increases activity in the right portion of the frontal lobe. In other words, energy shifts from overactive thinking to a calming effect.

The Oneness Blessing provides a doorway for you to experience reality without it getting filtered through your everyday mind. This has been referred to in spiritual enlightenment as your natural state of being.

Oneness Blessings begin a process that gives rise to the direct perception and experience of oneness with all life.

The Blessings strengthen your connection to the divine. When you can surrender completely to the reality of “what is” in your life then Divine Grace can give you a spiritual awakening experience. You begin flowing with all life around you. You begin to become free from the continuous judgments of your mind. Emotional events have less effect on you.

Since 2003 Amma Bhagavan has taught the public from around the world who attend the Oneness University, as well as dasas, guides at the Oneness University, how to give Oneness Blessings or Deeksha to begin the awakening in individuals.

Arjuna Ardagh, Awakening into Oneness, describes the Oneness Blessing as a transfer of Divine Energy from one person to another. The Blessing can be given by touch, through the eyes, or through the power of intention, resulting in healing, peace, and overall well-being.

How many people does it take for Planetary Awakening?

Quantum physicist, John Hagelin, verifies that 8000 highly vibrational meditators calculated after years of research on the effects of meditation, as the minimum number of people necessary to affect the fields of human consciousness worldwide and trigger a paradigm shift, the phenomenon of spiritual awakening. Every individual, awakening into oneness automatically affects a few more thousand people.

The vision of Sri Amma Bhagavan involves at least 1% of the world’s population – 70,000 people – by the year 2012 awakening. The power generated would equal to 70,000 into 70,000. That force would push the rest of humanity gradually into higher states of consciousness where finally by 2035 most people awaken, according to Amma Bhagavan.

Do you choose to be part of the Spiritual Awakened 70,000 shifting human collective consciousness into planetary enlightenment?

Three Feet From Gold - Book Review

In the winter of 2009, I was laid off from my full time salaried position as a CPA for a consulting firm in Boston. Since then, I’ve been doing project work for various companies as an independent contractor.

Since last summer, business has been slow with no incoming work offers. I chock it up to the Universe wanting me to spend more time finishing my novel and writing for my blog. But there comes a time when the income faucet must get turned back on for this single girl or things start to get pretty dicey.

For some reason, the Universe has been more interested in playing tricks on me than turning on the faucet. I went on one interview for a part-time Interim Controller position. The interview process was going fine until I met with the President of the company. He asked, “You’re OK with part-time for now? I think we’ll be ramping up soon.”

I said, “Yes, I have some creative projects that I’m working on, so that would work out fine.”

He said, “I hear from Human Resources that you’re writing a novel. What happens when you become a best selling author? What does that mean for us?”

First of all, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing from someone who is supposed to be an intelligent business person. The odds of becoming a best selling author are similar to winning the lottery. Second, I had to come up with a great answer without messing with the energy I had put out for becoming a successful author. I responded, “It would be great if I became a best selling author. I’ll just schedule my book signings on weekends.” What I was really thinking was, What an ass!

I walked out thinking, Could there be a message for me here? Nice but it doesn’t pay the mortgage right now. I was talking to myself and sending a message to Spirit that tricks are for kids not adults who have serious financial responsibilities.

The next day, I got a call from a recruiter who set me up to meet with a Controller who was looking for someone to help with a project. I read up on the latest accounting regulations the company needed to comply with and studied their recent public filings. I prepared for hours. When I got there, I told the receptionist that I was there to meet with Mr. Lay. She said, “I don’t think that’s how he pronounces his name. I think it’s Lie.”

I apologized while she phoned his office. Lay or Lie, I was eager to get back to work.

I was escorted to his office where we talked about the project. He proceeded to grill me about my experience managing projects. Nothing I said satisfied him. The only time he perked up was when I mentioned using consultants on one of the projects I managed. “Who did you use?” He asked.

He was more interested in the consulting firm I used than me. As he left his own office for the next person to come in and interview me, I spontaneously asked, “How do you pronounce your last name?” I couldn’t believe it came out of my mouth.

He responded, “Lie,” and then closed the door behind him. It was the last word he said to me.

I knew it was the Universe giving me a message.

Within 24 hours, I received the feedback I knew I would get. Not interested. He hired a consulting firm instead. Intuitively, I got that he had already decided to hire the firm. He was just interviewing me to satisfy the new Chief Financial Officer who was friendly with the recruiter.

That’s when I had a serious talk with the Universe. Did they not think I had better things to do with my time than to play hide and go seek with Senior Financial Managers? “What’s up with this!?” I screamed (really).

Ironically, while I was at the interview, my ex-roommate left a book in a bag on the door knob to my house. The book was one I had purchased while in an airport for another consulting job earlier in the year. I was buying many books in airports as I went back and forth between San Diego and Boston. As I dragged myself in one Friday night after a long commute, I threw my stuff on the kitchen table. My roommate saw this book and asked, “Can I read this? It looks interesting.”

“Sure. I have two books ahead of that one anyway. Go ahead.”

Well, my roommate moved out and I forgot about the book…until now. The book? Three Feet From Gold by Sharon Lechter and Greg Reid.

Books always seem to find me at just the right time. I was so frustrated with my work search, I felt like giving up. Of course, I can’t give up, because I’m a single chick with a mortgage, remember? I was just running out of ideas and Faith (even those who own spiritual metaphysical blogs have run ins with our friend Faith on occasion). I couldn’t see my way forward and things were getting close to being dicey financially.

Just when you think your requests fall on deaf ears on the other side, they give you little clues…like you’re Three Feet From Gold…just hang on! That is, if you’re willing to pay attention.

If you feel like you’ve been through the wringer with the Great Recession and you’re at the end of your rope, pay attention! You need to scrape together the money to buy the book Three Feet From Gold – Turn Your Obstacles into Opportunities! The book was inspired by Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich (another book you should read if you haven’t). The co-author, Greg Reid interviewed some of the most successful business people in the country. The common theme: Never Give Up! Another common theme was that the most successful people in the world experience rejection and failure. The degree of success was equal to or greater than the failure experienced—usually greater.

The book gave me a renewed sense of Faith in myself and shook the courage out of me to persevere through difficult times. The authors remind the reader that Napoleon Hill’s book was published during the Great Depression of the 20th century, and it was their intention to write this book for those going through the Great Recession of the 21st century.

As I finished the book and looked around my living room, I thought about the original owners of my house (built in 1910) who lived through the Great Depression. If they could get through it, then I knew I can get through these tough times too. I wasn’t going to give up on myself no matter how difficult it seemed.

Within a few days, I got a phone call from a Chief Financial Officer from a large firm in Boston who thought my background was perfect for an Interim Controller position he needed to fill and told me to just come in on Monday. And by the way, he might want to hire me full time. He didn’t need to see me in person. He didn’t worry that I might become a best selling author. He just knew I was perfect for the job. A recruiter had set up the call and said he had looked at a stack of resumes and mine was the only one he was interested in…AND he was willing to pay me what I wanted. The most ironic part, the CFO's last name is the same as one of the angels! I guess when I screamed UNCLE, the Universe said it was time for a little good humor.

I highly recommend reading Three Feet From Gold…and to pay attention when the book lands in your lap. It’s the Universe sending you a message that the income faucet is about to turn on for you!

PS. I’ll keep you posted if the Best Selling Author prophesy from the ass comes to pass. Anything is possible!

Your Pets and Your Guardian Angels

If you are like most people, you consider your pets to be part of your family. You love them and receive much love in return, and you distress when they become ill or lost for even a short time. Below I’m going to give you some unique suggestions on lowering your stress level when events seem to be worrisome, or even in crises situations, with those lovable family members.

About ten years ago, in reading spiritual articles and books, I kept noticing the word “benevolent” used in stories about angels and their relationship to us. As this is not a commonly used word in the English language, it was quite noticeable to me.

One day I read a suggestion to request benevolent outcomes for events in your life. I decided to try it out, and was amazed how PERFECTLY it worked for everything, from small requests such as a parking spot next to a busy restaurant or a seat on the subway to the really important situations in my business and personal life. After having made these requests between 10,000 and 15,000 times over the years, I am firmly convinced that our Guardian Angels are there to assist us in living more gentle lives. We just have to ask.

So how do we utilize these requests with our pets?

As an example, we found one of my dogs, Sandy, at a local animal shelter. They had discovered her on the side of a busy highway. A beagle-dachshund mix, she will roam the neighborhood if we accidentally leave the gate open, which certainly at the very least could mean the permanent loss of a sweet, lovable dog. When this happens, I have immediately requested out loud, “I request a Most Benevolent Outcome for finding Sandy safe and sound. Thank you.”

You always thank your Guardian Angel and make these requests with emotion, as that works best. We always find her, although one time some workmen were holding her in a house being remodeled down the street from us. When they saw us searching the grounds of the house for the third time (I “felt” that she was nearby), she suddenly appeared.

Another time she ran across four lanes of traffic on a busy street that we live next to. Most of the time we can find her socializing with other dogs within a block radius.

Requesting a Benevolent Outcome always puts me at ease, as I KNOW that I’m going to find her. It takes the stress and worry away.

I will explain how to take the stress and worry out of caring for a sick pet below, but first let’s back up a little. When it’s time to add a pet into your family, you say, “I request a Most Benevolent Outcome for finding the perfect pet for our family. Thank you.”

If you have definitely decided upon a dog, cat, or other animal or bird, you can be specific in your request, but if you have not decided, let your Guardian Angel and the universe assist you. It works this way. Perhaps when you go to an animal shelter, possibly one of the attendants there points out a pet that just arrived that morning, even just a few minutes before you arrived. Or you will just be drawn to one particular animal that in your heart you know is the perfect companion for your family. Possibly even before you go out searching one of your friends calls and says their dog or cat just had a litter of puppies or kittens. They ask if you would be interested in coming over to take a look at them.

Your Guardian Angel works in amazing ways, and I can assure you it’s FUN to sit back and see how the pieces of the puzzle come together when you make requests for MBO’s (as I call them). Just remember that requesting Benevolent Outcomes has to be benevolent for all concerned.

Next, you have to choose the right food for your new companion. There are so many foods on the market today that I think it’s best to request a Benevolent Outcome for choosing the right food for your pet. Even your vet can make a mistake in recommending a certain brand. Let yourself be guided in choosing the right formula and the right amount to feed your pet. And don’t forget to request a MBO when choosing vitamins to help keep your pet healthy and live a long life.

When your pet is sick, that can really cause you to be concerned and worry for their welfare. One lady that had previously read my articles on requesting Benevolent Outcomes told me how her cat was recently in distress; so she took her cat to the veterinarian and requested a MBO that the cat would be fine. She was greatly relieved to be told by the vet that it was an easy problem to treat. Your pets normally are quite afraid of their trips to the veterinarian. I always say, “I request a Most Benevolent Outcome for our (pet’s name) visit to the vet.” One of our dogs is so afraid of going to a vet (after being given up twice by other families) that I have to leave his leash off until we are ready to go inside.

One of our previous female dogs had a parvo type disease that is fatal 99 out of 100 times. We requested a Benevolent Outcome for her recovery, and then had the “inspiration” to start feeding her large amounts of the same vitamin E we took for our health. Her blood count slowly increased to the point where she completely recovered.

I’m going to give you something else that works when you see an animal on TV that has been injured, tortured, or trapped. If you love animals (and you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t) you feel quite frustrated that you can’t help that animal in person. You can do something. You can say out loud, “I ask that any and all beings come to the aid of this animal and comfort, aid, and assist this animal in any and all ways. Thank you.”

These requests are not acted upon by your Guardian Angel, but by other Angelic beings, and INSTANTLY. You do not limit the request to humans, as it could be other animals or Angelic beings that actually physically assist that animal in distress. You use the word “ask” instead of “request” as that is a more general request. Then you will feel better that at least you did what you could to aid that animal. This confidence will be higher if you have been requesting Benevolent Outcomes in your life, so you know from direct experience and knowledge that making these requests really work!

So, a Most Benevolent Outcome for you life with those loving companions that do so much to make our lives more enjoyable! Your life with them will be much less stressful and worry-free when you request Benevolent Outcomes from the time that you wish to add them to your family and all through their lives with you. I wish you all a Good Life!

What is the Phenomenon of Spiritual Awakening Sweeping the Planet?

I'd like to share with you an interview I had with Michael when I got to ask him about the topic of Spiritual Awakening.

Irene Conlan - Self-Improvement Show: What is the phenomenon of Spiritual Awakening sweeping the planet?

Michael: Some people will say they have no interest in spirituality, yet I will show that this significant occurrence of awakening affects everyone.

Spiritual Awakening and Enlightenment is the primary goal of almost all spiritual practices, religions, and for any spiritual seeker.

Spiritual awakening refers to the dissolving of the illusion of our separation from life. This feeling of separateness lies at the root of our suffering.

First I will tell the story of the 100th monkey for those unfamiliar with it.
Scientists conducted a study of monkeys on a Japanese island in 1952. The scientists observed that some of these monkeys learned to wash sweet potatoes and gradually this new behavior spread through the younger generation of monkeys. The researchers observed that once a critical number of monkeys reached the so-called hundredth monkey, this previously learned behavior instantly spread across the water to monkeys on nearby islands.

The story shows once a critical number has been obtained then the consciousness of the group shifts.

Adyashanti, author of The End of Your World who has experienced awakening has this to say. Awakening . . . is a shift in one’s perception - a paradigm shift . . . Full awakening simply means that we perceive . . . from the view of oneness.

When Adyashanti mentions oneness this refers to seeing and feeling the unity within ourselves, in the world, and in all living things.

Sri Amma/Bhagavan, an Avatar of Awakening, talks about awakening as, Complete liberation of the senses without control of the mind or thought. Experience reality as it is, no longer separate. Joy means being connected to everybody.

Part 3 of Michael’s book, Emotional Health, describes in detail the global paradigm shift and spiritual awakening.
