Uranus: Calm or Calamity

-->
In a recent blog post, I wrote: “Uranus turning Retro on July 13th can help you to reflect on the journey, to see how your efforts changed you in the process and changed others … unforeseen reactions to the choices you made can cause you to reassess those choices or goals, based on the unintended results that they also set in motion.  This awareness reflects the house Uranus is transiting, plus any natal planets it is aspecting.”

To further personalize this for you, I will draw on Dr. Oskar Adler’s Testament of Astrology -- the following notes are from Lecture 7 of Sequence Six, “Movement of the Stars and Course of Life”, pages 113 to 121.
Uranus Tests the Stability of Self. In harmonizing the here with the beyond, it shakes the ground of the relevant house. Expect surprise and surrender to the charm of novelty.  Your degree of calm vs. calamity rests in how much you fear change.
1st House: Conflict of individuality vs. personality; enhancing obstinacy and egocentrism.
2nd: Shocks between the debit and credit account of your life: what’s mine?
3rd: Shocks about siblings, separations, interruptions in relationships; individuality vs community.
4th: Problems of a “Father-Son” nature.  Find your way home to Transcendent Self
5th: Emotional tempests, passion vs. true love; eroticism and control or cruelty; conquer egotism related to young children and pupils.
6th: Shocks pertain to health, and the harmony of the inner and outer life and one’s ability to merge harmoniously with a higher community without relinquishing one’s Self.
7th: Relationship shocks: how to balance the longing for freedom and independence with the yearning for union.
8th: Must reconcile thoughts of death and immortality, and enforced leave-taking from something irreplaceable.
9th: Shocks related to religion and conflicts of faith; conflicts of conscience require broadening one’s perspective, and to find that faith that can issue from one’s own soul.
10th: Shocks related to external activities, changes in one’s profession that brings disquiet. Questioning the truth of your vocation vs. your profession.
11th: Shocks regarding friendship; questions of conscience and egotism, attitudes change daily.  The challenge is to find the way to balance true loyalty to one’s self and to others.
12: Conflicts relate to the way out of one’s lower self, balancing resignation, repentance, redemption, and the call for love and self-sacrifice.
Uranus Retro until Dec. 13th 2012 calls us to revisit how to free ourselves from egotisms that hamper our higher self-realization in those areas of life.  Dr. Adler teaches that Uranus brings bend-or-break choices, to help us reconcile our social and  anti-social impulses and energies.  As I said in my earlier blog post, Uranus in Aries ignites our zest for life. So if what you’ve been doing hasn’t lit your fire, use Uranus in Retro these next five months to find a better match for your unique interests and ideals!
