Recognize that You Might be in Recovery

Note: This article is one in series of tips from Inspired Entrepreneur Nick Williams

Tip 20 - Recognise that you might be in recovery

Recovery is literally covering the ground between your original self and the self you have created and become.” Julia Cameron

Dealing with resistance can be part of our recovery programme. I am sure that you have had the experience of revisiting issues and emotional patterns that you thought you’d handled, but then they come around to be dealt with again but at a higher level. I would often beat myself up for thinking, “I thought I’d dealt with that one.”

Although I have never been in a formal 12-step recovery programme, I have come to understand that this is part of the recovery process, to revisit old patterns again and gradually they diminish and fade away.

So be compassionate with yourself for having to deal with some issues a number of times. We are all in recovery. Don’t wait to be a finished item - you are a work in progress.

Freedom project: Which parts of yourself are you recovering? Show up with today’s version of your best self knowing that there will always be more ground to cover and more of you to recover.
