First of all, I was on the phone with her when she set up her Facebook page. She wanted to see the photos and stories her niece posted. She thought the whole process of set up was frustrating. For her to send an email via Facebook WITH an attachment would be miraculous even if she were alive. Her very frail husband is in a nursing home, so he couldn't have done it.
You would think someone like me who has a blog called Explore Beyond the Usual wouldn't be surprised by all this. Stuff happens to me all the time, but I have to say, it still comes as a surprise.
Ironically, the email came on March 20, the first day of Spring. The desk in my home office where I write overlooks her beautiful back yard with gardens she meticulously worked on last year. I was just thinking about her that morning. Right about now, we would both be clearing out our yards for planting season and talking about what we wanted to plant in our garden in weeks to come. I even said out loud that morning, It won't be the same without you Jean.
At 3:42 PM, up pops her email in my Inbox...A Potpourri of Most Benevolent Outcomes. Interesting, seeing that I was thinking about planting flowers (we usually always went shopping together for our annuals), and the word potpourri should be in the email. The word potpourri is defined as 1. A combination of incongruous things 2. A mixture of dried flower petals and spices.
I would say maybe this email was a combination of both...including a Most Benevolent Outcome message thrown in for good measure.
Perhaps someday I'll find out why this happened. Maybe I won't. Does it matter? One way or another, it was a message from my friend Jean in Spirit perhaps telling me to stay tuned--that many good things are on their way to me and I believe her.
