Discussion of Oprah's Super Soul Sunday Premiere: The World Beyond

Did anyone see Oprah's Sunday morning Super Soul Sunday premiere this morning? Oprah says this Sunday morning programming is meant to "help viewers awaken to their best selves and discover a deeper connection to the world around them." Who wouldn't be interested in that?
This morning's program was called, The World Beyond where Oprah asks, "Is there more to life than we can see?"

If you're an Explore Beyond the Usual reader or blogger, you'll love it. She'll be repeating the program several times today and probably during the week, so catch the wave when you have a chance. The show features Oprah interviewing a filmmaker names Jonas Elrod who spontaneously had the veil lifted betwen life and...some other form of life we don't ordinarily see. This all happens just before his best friend dies suddenly in a motorcycle accident. He starts seeing spirits, angels, auras and dark entities he calls "demons." At his best friend's funeral, he meets his soul mate who will go on a journey with him to understand why he can now see beyond the veil

Jonas' journey includes meeting with physicians, scholars, religious teachers, mystics and spiritual healers where they try to explain what he's experiencing. Jonas learns that he's not alone...and the science community is coming with him to try to understand what's going on.

I loved the documentary and you will too. Jonas wasn't some bizzaro guy tripping the light fantastic. He seems like an average guy trying to figure out what the heck is going on in his life. I thought the documentary had top notch professors, physcians, and spiritual leaders being interviewed. I rolled my eyes when I saw Ramtha yet again but tried to keep an open mind. J.Z Knight has channeled Ramantha as far back as the 1980s. She/It made an appearance in  the acclaimed documentary What the Bleep, Down the Rabit Hole.

One scene includes Jonas traveling to Rome to see a Medium who has a business photgraphing spirits. Jonas goes into a semi meditative state and starts pointing out what he's seeing. There are photographers in the room taking photographs of the spots he points out. After the film is developed, you can clearly see the outlines of...some interesting things. You'll have to watch. It's just another step in confirming that he wasn't hallucinating. Some form of energy was present.

Have you ever seen spirit energy before? I do. My friends know this. Not something I usually talk about publicly. I have included some of my experiences in my new novel, Portsmouth - A Love Story. What I see mostly happens at night. I'm awakened in the middle of the night. When I open my eyes, I can see a spirit standing next to my bed. I can describe this person/spirit in detail. It's been happening to me for as long as I can remember. The first time I saw something was around the age of 5. Since then, I've learned to sort of live with it. For years, it scared me. I would bolt upright in bed and turn the light on. Until a few years ago, I would leave the lights on all night. It's not that I'm just lying there trying to get to sleep and I see shaddows on the wall. I'm literally fast asleep and on some level, I know someone is standing next to my bed and bolt upright. It's startling, because not only can I feel someone there, there is someone there! I often ask myself how I even know someone/thing is my room if I'm sleeping. It's not like they knock on the door and announcement themselves. These people just stand there and stare at me. It's all very quiet. In the movie, Jonas describes spirits showing up in his bedroom at night and just standing next to his bed staring. That's when I said, "Yup."

Between Oprah's Life Class and her new Super Soul Sunday, it's like a breath of fresh air in television programming. The information was not new to me but it might be for you. I enjoyed it because it was  presented in a way that even seasoned metaphysical seekers could appreciate and learn from.
